Aloha everyone.
Sorry it’s been a while since you all received one of these.
Words seem inadequate to describe what’s happening across the Americas right now, so we’re going to skip right to a few actions.

1.

Support the Dreamers. Ask Mazie, Brian, and Tulsi to co-sponsor the Durbin-Graham DREAM Act in the Senate and the Gutierrez American Hope Act in the House. For more  information on DACA, you can check out Indivisble’s explainer and script developed with United We Dream and the National Immigration Law Center.

Sen. Mazie Hirono – (808) 522-8970 / (202) 224-6361
Sen. Brian Schatz – (808) 523-2061 / (202) 224-3934

Aloha! My name is ________ and I live in _________. I want to thank Sen. Hirono/Sen. Schatz for speaking out on behalf of DACA and the 800,000 Dreamers who have been protected under this program. I’m calling to request that she/he co-sponsor S. 1615, the Graham-Durbin DREAM Act, which will create a legislative fix to the DACA program and give these Americans a path to legal status and eventual citizenship. Mahalos!

Rep. Tulsi Gabbard – (808) 541-1986 / (202) 225-4906

Aloha! My name is ________ and I live in _________. I’d like to thank Rep. Gabbard for speaking out on behalf of DACA and the 800,000 Dreamers who have been protected under this program. I’m calling to request that she co-sponsor HR 3591, which will create a legislative fix to the DACA program and give these Americans a path to legal status and eventual citizenship. Mahalos!

Help Houston. City native Shea Serrano has compiled a list of groups that are getting less attention but doing important work. Check them out and consider sending some money their way.

Shape Kauai’s future. The County Council has begun reviewing the draft of a new General Plan that will reshape development and zoning decisions on Kauai for years to come. Visit plankauai.com to read the plan and submit your input to the Council!

Say thanks. Lee Anne is still looking for members to support the Kauai Indivisible Mahalo Committee. The goal is to identify members of congress who have taken a stand and send them a mahalo. One week might be a small Hawaiian food gift, another week might be a signed poster or a group of postcards, etc. Anyone can nominate a worthy recipient – please help us highlight those public servants who are still fighting for the public. If you’re interested, just send us an email and we’ll be in touch about when and how you can help.

As always…
